Who is this course for?

The intro course is for individuals at the beginning of their surfing journey. The course covers topics ranging from leashes to etiquette to fin selection to properly waxing your board to the turtle roll, and catching waves – from whitewater to green waves. Ultimately, it provides an essential foundation of knowledge and answers a lot of important questions.

What does the Longboarding Fundamentals course cover?

The entire 16-chapter, nearly-hour-long curriculum is viewable below. The course covers: Kassia's philsophy on surfing, goofy vs. regular foot, the lineup and water safety, etiquette, board selection, fin selection, fin placement, wax, leashes, paddling out, the turtle roll, catching whitewater waves, and catching and standing up on green waves. The course concludes with a quiz. If you retained Kassia's wisdom from each chapter, you'll pass with flying colors.

What doesn't the fundamentals course cover?

The fundamentals course does not include more advanced longboarding techniques like bottom turning, trim, hanging five, hanging ten, hanging heels, and linking maneuvers together. All of these skills are covered in depth in the intermediate and advanced course. The fundamentals course ends once the student is able to stand up on a green wave.

What do I need for this course?

Just an internet connection. You'll obviously need to get a board, leash, fins, and suit to really surf, but Kassia breaks down all the knowledge she can to make your journey as friction-free as possible.
